About Me

The first 30 years of my life were spent exploring life from an Alaskan perspective. Fishing, hiking, and camping shaped my childhood and later, running, skiing and flying expanded my love of nature even further. The shorelines , strewn with rocks and pebbles of magical textures and colors, were the inspiration to begin painting watercolors .

After meeting my wonderful  husband to be, I made a major change in lifestyle and moved to South Florida where my passions soon turned from  pebbles to shells. We take many shelling trips throughout the summers and find great treasures for our collections as well as my artwork.

A brief, but memorable residence in Australia brought about my fixation on the BLUE STARFISH. A snorkeling trip to  the Great Barrier Reef brought me face to face with this unique, colorful creature. It inspired my studio name , my love for the beach, and all the casualness and colors that the seaside creates.

I am very aware of waste, and reuse things when I can. I love distressed vs. new and the personality that resides in “fixer-uppers”.  Many of my creations are made of wood moldings with just the right “feel” to them, then gently cleaned, sanded or painted before assembly. Shells and wood are found all around our state of Florida and the world. When possible, I will make a note of the location of the particular piece that I have added to my  artwork.

Blue Starfish  hair clips  and  flower headbands for children (and adults)  are designed with enthusiasm for creating something unique for you and  your  little ones. I've recently added some original designs featuring the starfish, to beach hats and sashes

I reside in Pompano Beach, Florida with my husband and two daughters, all  of whom take an active interest in our collections.
